A minute to talk P(alin)tics

I walk cautiously when it comes to discussing politics.

However, in light of our (Arizona) favorite defender of the people and hope for President of the United Sates, ...... I am going to nervously venture out on a limb, test waters (name your cliche') and see what everyone thinks??

Here's a quick rundown of the so-called political pundits and election watchers.

The truth is McCain is essentially tied or trailing in every swing state that matters - and too close for comfort in several states like Indiana and Montana the GOP usually wins pretty easily in presidential races. On top of that, voters seem very inclined to elect Democrats in general this election - and very sick of the Bush years.

McCain could easily lose in an electoral landslide.

However, this is a gamble but a good and necessary gamble.

"She's a fresh new face in a party that's dying for one - the antidote to boring white men," a campaign official said.

Palin, the logic goes, will prompt voters to give him a second look - especially women who have watched Democrats reject Hillary Rodham Clinton for Barack Obama."

Ultimately, McCain could easily lose in an electoral landslide.

However, the polls are close and Sarah Palin brings a lot to the table to improve the ticket. However, she also brings inexperience.

Watch closely, the next few months will be very interesting and will shape the next 4 years.

I like McCain , however, cannot see for more Bush years which is how people are voting

I think that the polls do not take into account well enough who actually turns out to vote. That turnout is going to be the telling sign and I think it is McCain

I am a woman who is pro-hilary. not necessarily Democrat. I am not sure about Sarah Palin as I know nothing of her yet. However, it is now a ticket that I am looking at and may vote for. I would never have previous to this nomination of VP.

seems like it is coming down to

women who want some change and youth and Mccains experience in politics can now vote for a ticket that is not the good ole boy network of the last 8 years

I wrote a bio-type post on the governor on Friday. She will probably appeal to the conservative base of the party where McCain has definitely been questioned.

Rich - I think it is a good pick. He is in good health. So her inexperience should not be much of an issue. She appeals to women which will persuade many pro-hilary, anti-obama, gutsy pick, I like it

James,

Like you I stay pretty close to home when it comes to talking about politics.  I like the choice McCain has made however at first I was not to sure because I had never heard of her.  But, with the more I hear about her I think it has added a new dimension to the race.  As some have already said it is a gutsy move on his part.

I have to say that this was a poor selection. a cheap marketing gimmick that shows desperation. I love McCain and will vote for him. However, this election is not going to be close. Obama wins in a landslide.

Boy, a couple of weeks sure makes a difference, huh?  Now McCain is not only leading in some of the general polls, but he is leading in some of the electoral vote based polls...

Lane - being from AZ , we are all McCain fans by default. However, we thought we were down and out. Looks a lot differnet than it did before the conventions. - still a lot of time left though
