I recieve news headlines during the day from Inman news, marketwatch, etc...
Here are today's top stories.
- FBI fraud probe grows to 26 companies -- Fannie, Freddie reportedly under scrutiny
- NAR: Sales, prices sink in August
- Mortgage applications tank as rates soar
- U.S. home prices slid in July
- How to overcome clients' market worries
- Stock Market drops on economic concerns
- Republicans and Democrats split on $700 Billion FED bailout
I know they are not reporting salacious headlines in order to sell newspapers. However, I am stronly considering 'blocking' these sources as junk mail.
I will return them to the safe senders list when the market returns to normal and I am not afraid to open my email anymore.

Scary group of headlines huh? I think I might stop reading the news too.
James,
The news is getting tooooooooooo depressing and I have moved to not watching it. It is starting to sound like Days Of Our Lives in real time.
JL - , Don - you know the news is getting bad , when we start wishing Sarah Palin was back on tv making jokes about hockey mom's and lipstick
James - now that you mention, Sarah Palin, I am thinking this is another marketing tactic by the Republicans to come in and "save the day", save financial industry and turn this country from the brink of economic disaster right in time for the November election. I am not a conspiracy theorist , but boy, the timing is pretty interesting.
after the 12 minute prime time address tonight by President Busin, I am not sure what to think. Clearly, something needs to be done. However, too much government involvement at too much cost to the taxpayer. There has to be a middle ground.
These are the top stories?! argggg! But isn't the news always the negative? That's what they look for. Controversy and adversity sells. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my post about Gracie. I laughed when I read it. *That's* what I should do, tell people she's a greyhound (with a straight face) I may try that next time someone asks.
Nothing like an anxiety attack delivered straight to your inbox
:-0
Sharon -- seems to be the question people ask, and then you feel guilty saying, a 'mix' or a ' mutt' , so I go with Greyhound -
you are right, there is no doubt, negative news sells , that we know, its just the headlines should not be so uniform across the board, loan down, rates up, stock market down, unemployment up, sales down, oil up, etc.... -
Renee - not only is email right from the inbox on the office PC (or apple if you are ont he cutting edge :) , stressful enough, ... I have a blackberry so these headlines follow me at home, the gym and at bedtime
James -
how is this for a headline to wake up to : Jobless claims pushed to 7-year high-
I could go on, however, no reason to stress everyone out to start the workday
Mike - I match your headlines and raise you this headline : New home sales at 17-yr low, prices fall record amount
James , Mike, Renee - How about some good news? / Headlines : Stocks rally on bailout hopes
I am thinking about starting a paper with only good news, upbeat stories and optimistic headlines.
how many papers do you think I would sell. 3 , maybe 4? :) Maybe more if you include realtors and mortgage people.
Maybe a lot as people would think it was satire like "the Onion". Donnie Deutch would say this is NOT a million dollar idea.
Sunshine - Definitely, count me in for a subscription.
Even if I am really busy, I will have time to read it as I know it will be a short/small paper :)
I no longer read the old fashioned newspapers and I watch one local and one national news at night. I get most of my news and information online. I am careful of my sources, but I also like to get the perspective of non-traditional media and ordinary people.
Stock Market up 200 points, FED bailout reached, its Friday, and its less then 100 degrees, what do you mean negative news :) - hope everyone has a great great weekend
